Karachi Bachao Tehreek, translating as 'the Movement to Save Karachi' is a volunteer group that comprises of activists, lawyers, students, political workers and residents of communities vulnerable to an onslaught of mass evictions in working class neighbourhoods in Pakistan's largest city, Karachi. The Karachi Municipal Corporation has currently been sanctioned by the city court to carry out heartless evictions rendering thousands of people homeless, and at the same time, is the country's biggest private housing corporation. Currently the KBT is working on the ground in the neighborhood of Gujjar Nala, and the hamlets threatened by the latest 'development project of Bahria Town. With leases being canceled without any compensation by the state and daily demolitions, the legal team of KBT files stay orders and complaints at the High Court and Supreme Court.
